SONNENWELT Großschönau

The SONNENWELT Großschönau adventure exhibition is a permanent interactive exhibition on the subject of climate protection and resource conservation, based on a multimedia journey through the history of people and energy. Numerous hands-on and play stations provide excitement, fun and surprising "aha" experiences in the exhibition, which is open all year round and inspires all age groups! In the 2,000m² SONNENWELT, you can explore how people aligned their lives with the sun thousands of years ago. Marvel at the interplay between the sun, atmosphere and earth or lift a heavy load with pure muscle power in a pedal crane - just like the Romans - without any fossil fuels. Generate your own energy for household appliances and discover how you can take action for a more sustainable and resource-conserving life in the future.

The SONNENWELT is therefore an ideal destination for families, school classes and group excursions. After a visit to SONNENWELT, young visitors can let off steam in the freely accessible outdoor energy adventure playground, while adults can stock up on regional specialties in the store, enjoy refreshments in the café or admire the green façade and the model passive houses in the outdoor area.

What happens in the event of a blackout? How can electricity be generated from renewable sources? What can we contribute? The current special exhibition* "The Power Changers" takes you into the fascinating world of renewable electricity: from sustainable energy generation from renewable energy sources to efficient use in the home and mobility.
