With our golden diesel railcars VT 8, VT 11 and VT 13 you can travel at up to 60 km/h on the routes Gmünd - Litschau and Gmünd - Groß Gerungs. In the summer months, the Golden Railcars are even on the road for you every day. For details, please refer to our timetable. During the journey, your train driver is also your travel companion. He will provide you with information about the route and the landscape, point out special views and tell you stories about the Waldviertelbahn. Various experience stops with small museums, theme trails and display boards provide insights into the history of the Waldviertelbahn - formerly also called Waldviertler Schmalspurbahn - and that of the region.
The Golden Railcar has 56 seats and 8 wheel seats, but no WC.
Both the obligatory advance reservation of a bicycle parking space at the Niederösterreich Bahnen Infocenter and the transport of your bike are free of charge. You can also reserve your bicycle parking space when booking online.
